Mrs. Lyon's Teaching philosophy
To teach is to create a space in which the community of learners bring their own gifts and talents to teach each other. Structure is created by the teacher, students, school, district, and surrounding community which enables the community of learners to work together towards common goals. All subjects are a thread creating interdisciplinary subject matter to study, each subject is dependent on one another. A teacher intentionally uses words, materials, and methods most effective for the community of learners. Art provides the unique opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and have it look back at them. This leads to curiosity about the self, awakening curiosity about the world. The apex of education is a life-long learner constantly asking questions and seeking understanding.
